Does Black Tongkat Ali contain eurycomanone?
In short, yes it does!

Published in 2023 by University Malaysia Pahang, a study conducted on Black Tongkat Ali's (Polyathia Bullata) eurycomanone levels compared with Yellow (Eurycoma Longifolia) and Red Tongkat Ali (Stema Tuberosa). Test subjects were done on fowls. After 30 days of consumption, Black Tongkat Ali (Polyathia Bullata) recorded the highest increase in testosterone in the fowls.

Here's a summary of the key findings and information from the study:

Tongkat Ali Comparison

The study compared the effects of three different types of Tongkat Ali (Yellow, Red and Black) on testosterone levels in fowls. All three types of Tongkat Ali were encapsulated and given to the fowls.

Safety and Quality Testing

Before administering the capsules to the fowls, the contents of the capsules were analysed for various safety and quality parameters. These parameters included pH and moisture tests, heavy metal content, microbial load, and steroid presence.
Dosage: Each capsule contained 12mg of the powdered material from each type of Tongkat Ali, and 14 fowls were given the capsules for a duration of 30 days.

Test Results

The study's outcomes revealed that Black Tongkat Ali (Polyathia Bullata) exhibited the highest increase in testosterone levels in the fowls, with a value of 9.73 ± 1.20 nmol/L. This was followed by Yellow Tongkat Ali (Eurycoma Longifolia) at 7.70 ± 0.59 nmol/L and Red Tongkat Ali (Stema Tuberosa) at 6.25 ± 0.70 nmol/L, compared to the control group that had a testosterone level of only 4.08 ± 0.85 nmol/L.

Safety and Efficacy

The results indicated that Stema Tuberosa and Polyathia Bullata were both safe for consumption (in vitro), and they were able to increase testosterone levels in the fowls (in vivo). This suggests their potential as aphrodisiac plants.

So, is Black Tongkat Ali safe for consumption then?

Yes, it definitely is! The study provides evidence suggesting that Black Tongkat Ali (Polyathia Bullata) offers health benefits due to its high eurycomanone levels. Additionally, the inclusion of heavy metal testing as a safety precaution before conducting the experiment is a crucial step in ensuring the accuracy and safety of the study. This safety testing reinforces the assurance that Black Tongkat Ali (Polyathia Bullata) is suitable for consumption.

What are heavy metals?

Heavy metals are indeed naturally occurring elements found throughout the Earth's crust, and they can be present in various environmental sources, including soil, water, and even the food we consume from fish, poultry, vegetables to fruits. "Heavy metals are all around us. They're in the ground we walk on, in the water we drink, and in the products we use every day." - WebMD. It's crucial to recognize that trace amounts of certain heavy metals are a normal part of the environment and are typically not harmful when they are within acceptable limits. The key is to ensure that these trace levels of heavy metals in our food and water remain below the safety standards set by governing bodies and health organizations to prevent any potential toxicity or health risks. Regulatory agencies, such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and national health authorities, establish these safety thresholds to protect public health.

Below is the Certificate of Analysis (COA) lab report that indicates Black Tongkat Ali (Polyathia Bullata) fall significantly below the safety threshold for heavy metals recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). This evidence is essential and a critical aspect of product quality and safety, as excessive heavy metal content can pose health risks to consumers.
